The office\u00a0supports the design, delivery and continuous improvement of\u00a0high-quality\u00a0online\/hybrid courses, programs, pedagogies, instructional materials and initiatives.\u00a0OOLET is tasked with the following priorities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promote and provide a positive online environment where both faculty and students seamlessly collaborate<\/li>\n<li>Provide effective technical user support to faculty<\/li>\n<li>Promote best practice in educational technology through\u00a0faculty professional development<\/li>\n<li>Ensure pedagogical soundness of instructional practice to ensure the\u00a0highest quality\u00a0virtual and hybrid learning experience by students<\/li>\n<li>Implement\u00a0appropriate higher education requirements and standards to facilitate effective\u00a0course design<\/li>\n<li>Ensure continuous\u00a0quality improvement of online courses, programs and initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Serve as liaison between faculty and IT<\/li>\n<li>Maintain effective distance-learning infrastructure; and<\/li>\n<li>Implement\u00a0new and\u00a0emerging technologies\u00a0to advance the university\u2019s mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Leading OOLET\u2019s charge is\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:lsawtell@stetson.edu\">Lisa Sawtell<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0who recently\u00a0joined Stetson University as director of Online Learning and Educational Technology in March 2016. Sawtell brings over 15 years of experience in online learning and educational technology\u00a0to the Stetson community\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/brown-center\/2016\/02\/stetson-welcomes-lisa-sawtell-as-director-of-online-learning-and-educational-technology\/\">More<\/a>).\u00a0The OOLET\u00a0team comprises\u00a0DeLand instructional designer\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:brbrown@stetson.edu\">Benjamin Brown<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0academic technology specialist\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:dmccain@stetson.edu\">Dawn McCain<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0College of Law\u00a0electronic education specialist\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:jkitzmil@law.stetson.edu\">Julie Kitzmiller<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>OOLET consults\u00a0daily\u00a0with faculty\u00a0to\u00a0achieve key\u00a0student\u00a0learning outcomes\u00a0using\u00a0diverse learning\u00a0technologies. The office also\u00a0provides\u00a0Blackboard\u00a0technical troubleshooting, user\u00a0support and training.\u00a0Since March 2016, OOLET has launched Stetson\u2019s online\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/brown-center\/2016\/06\/4696\/\">Faculty Resource<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/brown-center\/2016\/06\/4696\/\">\u00a0Training Cente<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/brown-center\/2016\/06\/4696\/\">r<\/a><\/em>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a dynamic Blackboard-based facility\u00a0designed to provide faculty with up-to-date resources, instructions and information.\u00a0The office has also offered a course development clinic for summer online faculty in May and\u00a0participated in New Faculty Orientation in August.\u00a0In addition, the\u00a0OOLET is managing the latest Blackboard upgrades and implementing a university-wide video management platform.<\/p>\n<p>OOLET staff members are available to\u00a0meet individually, in groups or virtually.\u00a0The DeLand office is located in the Lynn Business Center Room 032 during normal business hours.\u00a0At Gulfport, the College of Law office is located at\u00a0Department of Media Services in the Dolly &amp; Homer Hand Law\u00a0Library.\u00a0Contact\u00a0the Office of Online Learning and Educational Technology by email at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:OOLET@stetson.edu\">OOLET@stetson.edu<\/a>\u00a0or call\u00a0386-822-7921.<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/portal\/announce\/2016\/09\/06\/stetson-introduces-the-office-of-online-learning-and-educational-technology\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a result of\u00a0a\u00a0new joint venture between Information Technology and Academic Affairs, Stetson University is pleased to introduce the\u00a0Office of Online Learning and Educational Technology\u00a0(OOLET).
