The Brown Center for Faculty Innovation and Excellence<\/a> is thrilled to host\u00a0a 2-day project-based learning workshop\u00a0delivered\u00a0by Dr. Rick Vaz and colleagues from the Center for Problem-based Learning<\/a> at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).\u00a0Widely recognized as a high-impact educational practice, project-based learning (PBL) is increasingly being used to enhance student learning and skill development.\u00a0 Participants will explore ways to use PBL engage students with real-world, complex challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Call for applications will be posted shortly. \u00a0Registration is $275\/person or $1,000\/team (4 or more) – includes breakfast and lunch.<\/p>\n

\"vaz-photo\"Dr. Richard F. Vaz\u00a0serves as\u00a0the inaugural Director of WPI\u2019s Center for Project-Based Learning, which provides support to colleges and universities looking to implement or enhance project-based learning. In his prior role as\u00a0dean of interdisciplinary and global studies\u00a0he had oversight of WPI\u2019s interdisciplinary degree requirement, the Interactive Qualifying Project.<\/p>\n

Dr. Vaz received his BS, MS, and PhD in electrical engineering from WPI, and has been a member of the WPI Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty since 1984. \u00a0He has also held systems and design engineering positions with Raytheon, GenRad, and the MITRE Corporation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
