Through this engaging, hands-on series of workshops, participants will use backward design to develop innovative courses that &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>foster transformative learning experiences.<\/li>\n<li>engage students with complex questions.<\/li>\n<li>use a dilemma, issue or question as an organizational principle.<\/li>\n<li>clearly defines learning around\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aacu.org\/leap\/essential-learning-outcomes\">Essential Learning Outcomes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>includes pedagogical practices and strategies that have high-impact on learning and are inclusive of all learners.<\/li>\n<li>uses authentic assessment to measure learning at the source.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>All workshops will be held in LBC 136<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2>Workshop\u00a0 Topics<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Monday, February 5 &#8211; 1:30 -3pm: What&#8217;s the Big Idea?<\/strong> &#8211; engage students through complex questions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Monday, February 19 &#8211; 1:30-3pm: Essential Learning Goals<\/strong> &#8211; write learning goals that are appropriately challenging, foster critical thinking and prepare students for success as global citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, March 12 &#8211; 1:30-3pm: High-impact Pedagogies<\/strong> &#8211; develop inclusive assignments and activities that challenge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, March 26 &#8211; 1:30-3pm: Authentic Assessment<\/strong>&#8211; create assessments that reliably measure student learning, promote critical thinking, improve your grading experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, April 23 &#8211; 1:30 &#8211; 3pm: Reflect &amp; Share<\/strong> &#8211; share your work with your peers.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>All workshops will be held in LBC 136<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&lt;&lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/stetson.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_cI96o9NG64kz0mp\">Register for Spring Semester Workshop Series<\/a>\u00a0&gt;&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Brown Center for Faculty Innovation and Excellence is once again offering the\u00a0 multi-part course design (or redesign) workshop series in the Spring 2018 semester.
