Social Justice Lecture Series with Tim Wu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Is <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the First Amendme<\/span>nt Obsolete?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Evening of February 28th<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Columbia Professor of Law,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.law.columbia.edu\/faculty\/timothy-wu\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Wu<\/a>\u00a0will be visiting Stetson&#8217;s campus as an invited speaker in the Social Justice Lecture Series. Wu\u2019s scholarly interests include antitrust, copyright, the media industries, and communications law. Wu will address how these issues intersect with the idea of free speech, as articulated in his paper \u201c<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/knightcolumbia.org\/content\/tim-wu-first-amendment-obsolete\" rel=\"noopener\">Is the First Amendment Obsolete<\/a>?\u201d He argues that the internet enables a new class of threats, such coordinated internet trolling, etc., which confounds free speech and which the 1st Amendment seems unprepared to address.
