By 2008, the number of sections more than tripled, and by 2010, FSEM courses had increased by almost 400% since inception. Recognizing first-time-in-college student transition into the academy required intentional support, the FSEM Program was designated <em>HatterQuest,\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0the academic component of Stetson\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stetson.edu\/other\/strategic-planning\/qep.php\">Quality Enhancement Plan<\/a> (QEP, 2011-2020). The FSEM has since evolved to become a critical component of students\u2019 academic transition to and <em>through<\/em> Stetson University.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-915\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/fsem\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/FSEM-courses-2008-2018.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"496\" height=\"401\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Over the past decade, the number of sections topped at 59 in step with planned enrollment growth (<i>above<\/i>). To facilitate rising enrollment, class increases in number of students per seminar led to a decrease in sections (<em>e.g.<\/em> 53 sections in 2018).<\/p>\n<p>Since \u00a0implementation of the QEP, the University has witnessed positive gains in first term GPA sand resultantly, reductions in academic warning or suspension (<em>below<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-931\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/fsem\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Average-FTIC-GPA.jpg.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-913\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.stetson.edu\/fsem\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Percent-FTIC-MidTerm-Deficiencies.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"752\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Similar gains in student\u2019s ability to predict their Stetson grades were observed, demonstrating better understanding of collegiate expectations.<\/p>\n<p>To date, Stetson University has offered 163 unique FSEM courses taught by 123 unique FSEM instructors.
