SAVE THE DATE! Social Justice Lecture Series with Tim Wu

Is the First Amendment Obsolete?

Evening of February 28th

Columbia Professor of Law, Tim Wu will be visiting Stetson’s campus as an invited speaker in the Social Justice Lecture Series. Wu’s scholarly interests include antitrust, copyright, the media industries, and communications law. Wu will address how these issues intersect with the idea of free speech, as articulated in his paper “Is the First Amendment Obsolete?” He argues that the internet enables a new class of threats, such coordinated internet trolling, etc., which confounds free speech and which the 1st Amendment seems unprepared to address. Wu will also speak to the role the university can play in protecting free speech from this class of threats.

Exact time and location is TBD.
