Recruitment and retention of a vibrant, diverse faculty is critical to institutions of higher education faced with new challenges and opportunities in educating a globally- and civic-minded student. A strategic approach to developing an atmosphere that supports, nurtures, and develops faculty is formalized faculty mentoring. The annual New Faculty Mentoring Dinner at Stetson University celebrates this important role of faculty mentoring. At the annual dinner, new and experienced faculty members have an opportunity to gather together. By the end of the dinner event, mentor-mentee teams and groups are identified or re-established.
